Original artwork “The Good Shepherd”
The Good Shepherd This artwork is inspired by the words of Christ from the Gospel of John: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” John 10:11 These words inspired me to create my own artistic interpretation of the concept of the Good Shepherd. The artwork does not literally depict Christ, nor is it intended to represent a biblical scene. Instead of portraying the Good Shepherd as a human figure, I chose to use a symbolic image: a dog beside its sheep. The dog does not represent Christ, rather, it symbolizes care, protection, closeness, and responsibility toward those who depend on it. The artwork also reflects different responses to protection, care, and sacrifice: gratitude, closeness, and indifference. For me, this artwork is an artistic reflection on the idea of feeling protected, guided, cared for, and never abandoned. It also explores the relationship between the one who protects and those who receive that protection, as well as the different ways in which such care can be received. The artwork is already completed and available as a high-quality print on authentic canvas. It is intentionally created in an aged style, with a finish that gives it the appearance of an old and classical artwork, conveying a sense of history and timelessness. Despite its aged appearance, the artwork is protected with a hand-applied satin varnish, which helps preserve it and protect it over time from humidity and fungus. Because of its warm and natural character, the artwork is especially suitable for interiors such as a wooden mountain home or a cozy cabin surrounded by nature. The combination of the aged painting, natural linen, and classical frame creates a warm and timeless atmosphere that harmonizes especially well with wood, stone, and other natural materials. The artwork can be presented in a custom-made frame, as shown in the reference photograph, with a natural linen passe-partout and the biblical verse incorporated as part of the design. I create paintings inspired by the Old Masters, as well as abstract works and thought-provoking contemporary pieces — artworks with a certain edge and character, created not simply to decorate a space, but to invite contemplation, reflection, and an emotional response. My work includes historical paintings, classical-inspired compositions, biblical themes, and contemporary artworks that explore ideas, emotions, and human experiences. I am interested in creating paintings that make you pause, look closer, think, and perhaps awaken something within you. I also work on custom commissions, creating completely personalized artworks according to your ideas, interior, preferences, and concept. CUSTOM ARTWORK For a commissioned work, I can develop the idea and concept specifically for you. I can also create a visual mock-up showing how the artwork will look in your interior, as well as a video presentation of the proposed piece. Once the concept is approved, you can choose how the artwork will be produced. Depending on your preferences and the intended space, the image can be produced as a high-quality print on authentic canvas or jacquard fabric and finished by hand with either a glossy protective varnish or a satin finish. The protective finish helps protect the artwork from fading, humidity, fungus, and everyday mechanical impact, making it suitable for the Dominican climate and long-term display. CUSTOM FRAMING I also create designs for unique, custom-made frames and work with professional frame-making studios to bring these designs to life. Every element can be selected individually according to your taste and the character of your interior — including the frame, passe-partout, materials, decorative elements, and overall finish. For religious and classical projects, I can also create works depicting the Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus, as well as engraved or decorative compositions incorporating biblical verses and texts in different languages. I also work with gold leaf and gold leaf imitation (gilding) to create individual decorative details and finishes. ARTWORK FOR UNUSUAL WALL FEATURES If you need a painting specifically to conceal or integrate an object on a wall — for example, an electrical meter — I can design the artwork accordingly. In such cases, I can order a wider custom stretcher frame specifically for the artwork and pair it with a deep-profile frame, allowing the painting to sit properly over the object while maintaining a finished and elegant appearance. Everything is designed individually according to your taste, your space, and your needs. DELIVERY I work throughout the Dominican Republic, and international delivery is also available. For international orders, the artwork can be shipped securely through DHL, carefully and professionally packaged to protect it during transportation. Each artwork is signed by me and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity confirming its authorship. My goal is to create not simply a beautiful painting, but a complete artwork that is thoughtfully conceived, individually designed, professionally presented, and made specifically for you and your space.
